Question : Problem: PC-5300 RAM in a PC-4200 System?
|
|
I've got a somewhat basic question.
I've got a Dell desktop system. a Dimension 4700 series, and I want to upgrade the RAM for it. The manual says it takes up to DDR2 PC-4200 Non-ECC. However, only RAM I have available to purchase is DDR PC-5300 Non-ECC.
Will the motherboard work with the faster RAM?
Thanks.

Here is your system specs: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4700/sm/specs.htm#wp1043338
4300 and 3200 are memory types for this system as Dell specs called out. However, if you put in DDR2 5300 non-ECC, it should work as well.
