Question : Problem: laptop mouse becomes unresponsive and slides to the upper right
|
|
Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop with XP Pro. Recently, the mouse cursor will start to just slide up and right on the screen all by itself. I can fight it so that it will stay on the screen and eventually it will stop sliding. It doesnt seem to matter whether i have my usb mouse plugged in or not. Ive heard that this can be caused by a calibration procedure that the touchpad does on itself every now and then.
I updated the touchpad drivers from Dell's site and the frequency of occurances seems to be less but it still happens. What can I do?
thanks :)

You can try replacing the rubber cap on the mouse stick (the small nob in the middle of the keyboard). Sometimes when these get old a notebook starts acting that way. Another reason which can cause this behaviour is if you are low iôn memory.
