Question : Problem: adding another router to an existing network with a router

We have a small Windows NT Domain Network of 20 PC's.  There is currently a Freegate Router and 2 dlink switches.  ON this network there are 5 PC's that do not log onto the domain because they are public use PC's, they only have internet and have there own printer and are locked down with Policies, they are WinXP Pro PC's - local polices., they are part of there own workgroup.   Now we are installing a ADSL line for these 5 public PC's and 5 more PC's that are already part of the domain to have highspeed internet access.  So we bought a Linxys router - 4 port.  How is it possible to add the new Router to the existing network ( 2 routers the Freegate and the Linkxys) to give the 5 Public PC's access and the other 5 PC's that log onto the domain, access thorugh the new Linxsys router to the highspeed ADSL.

I hope this makes sense.  pls help .

Thanks

Answer : Problem: adding another router to an existing network with a router

The easy way is to have the 5 public PCs be connected off of whichever router is plugged in to the DSL modem.

Then take your 5 domain PCs and plug them into the other router.  So far, there's no connection between the two routers nor anything linking the two groups of 5 to eachother.

Now connect the WAN port on the 2nd router (with the domain PCs) to one of the regular ports on the first router (or hub).

Does that make sense?  Does it do what you want?  All 10 PCs have access to the internet through the DSL link.  The 5 domain PCs are protected from anyone using the public PCs.  None of the public PCs can share files with the domain PCs.
