Question : Problem: Missing drive after creating new partition

Details:
* MSA1000 controller
* Array B with Spare
        Logical Drive 3 (Raid 5)
        Logical Drive 4 (Raid 5)
* Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
* Clustered Server

I have just created Logical Drive 5 (Raid 5) to array B but I could not "see" the new partition in
Disk Management Utility. Can anyone help?

Also I am seeing this status message in HP Array Configuration Utility:
"Background parity initialization is currently queued or in progress on logical drive 5 ( RAID 5 in array B). If background parity initialization is queued, it will start when I/O is performed on the drive. When background parity initialization completes, the performance of the logical drive will improve. "
Anything related?

Answer : Problem: Missing drive after creating new partition

MSA1000 supports LUN masking (Selective Storage Presentation) so you have to select the host/WWNN under SSP in the ACU and present the logical disk to it. You can ignore the background parity message, you do not have to wait until it completes before disk manager can see the drive.
