Question : Problem: Using Console to access a Cisco 2900XL

Hi,
I have been trying to use a console cable to access my catalyst 2900XL. I hook the cable up to the console port on the switch and then hook the other then to com1 on my computer. I open HyperTerminal and point it at com1. Nothing comes up at all, it just says connected (in the status bar) and sits there doing nothing with a blank screen. I have checked the cable and it is brand new. I have hooked it up to my other serial port and the same thing happens,..
Any ideas anyone?

another thing is dont just click connect hit ENTER a couple of times and it might send you something back.
