|
I built a new computer and now i can't get it running.Everytime i start it up i get the following message when windows tries to load and then the computer restarts.
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevet damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate diskk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with You hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

Answer : Problem: Stop message screen appears when rying to start windows

Is this Windows XP with a SATA hard drive and SATA set to Legacy mode in the BIOS? If so, set it to native mode, get yourself a USB floppy drive, and use the F6 option during setup with the SATA driver disk to install those drivers during setup.
I have seen problems before where the PATA emulation on the SATA controller is not quite right, and it confuses the snot out of XP.
