Question : Problem: Need to boot up using a SATA CD drive into DOS environment

I need to find a way to be able to boot up with my SATA CD drive into a DOS environment and have access to my CD drive.
I've checked my CD/DVD drive manufacturer and was unable to find any DOS drivers to boot with (at least not for SATA).

My goal is to be able to use my SATA CD drive to boot up with and utilize some older DOS based disk utils (partition magic 8, Drive Image 2005, etc) with.  ( I don't want to upgrade that software!)

I'm hoping to find a generic driver that isn't model/make specific so I can use a CD to boot up on any SATA CD drive (or IDE drive in addition, if that's possible).

I uploaded a copy of gcdrom.sys for you here:

Note:  I do not have a SATA CDROM, so I have not tested this ... but it should work fine, and works just like the OAKCDROM generic drives; i.e.:

--- config.sys ---
DEVICE=GCDROM.SYS /D:MSCD000 /C0

--- autoexec.bat ---
MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD000

Note that it does NOT support legacy PATA drives ==> so you'll need the OAKCDROM drivers for those.
