Question : Problem: BES / Exchange 03 Send As Hotfix

I have the problem that has been well documented with blackberry users getting a red 'x' when they try to send email from their device. i have succefully determined that it is the send as permissions for my 'BESAdmin account' that is missing for the AD users. i was able to manually add the send as permission to a few accounts and this resolved the problem.

now i would like to download the hotfix from the following link

http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=895949&kbln=en-us

but whether i choose Exchange SP2 or SP3 the hotfix that i am sent errors out with a message saying:

"Setup has detected that the service pack version of the system installed is newer than the update you are applying to it.

You can install this update on Service Pack 1 only"

How can i ge the correct service pack. i have BES 4.1.4 running on EXchange 2003 SP2.

also i have 3 exchange servers and one proxy server. do i need to install the hotfix on all servers, or just the domain controller

thanks

Answer : Problem: BES / Exchange 03 Send As Hotfix

That hotfix will correct the security issue where users with full mailbox access would be given send as rights by default.

Didn't realize earlier, but you can apply the permission to the OU that you want (like I originally stated, but took back for some reason). In the advanced security permissions change it to apply to "user accounts" and you will have send as in the list.  No hotfix installation necessary.  However, note that this behavious will change in Exchange 2003 SP3.
