Question : Problem: Can’t map network drive over VPN if joined to Domain

Here’s the story:

I have a client with 17 laptops, 6 workstations,2 servers. They all need access to a Medical Records/Billing program. The client program depends on a network mapped drive called H:

This was a workgroup I inherited. The issue was that the mapped drive H kept  “going away|”. My solution was to create a domain, join all the laptops, setup the map as:
Net use h: \\10.10.179.12\name

Then I created a logoff script with net use /persistent:yes

When the laptops are in the office and logged into the domain everything works fine. When they are remote, things just don’t work!  If I log into the domain with cashed credentials, then connect via VPN  (Linksys RV042 with their client) I get the following:
C:\Documents and Settings\lee.HEALTH>ping 10.10.179.12

Pinging 10.10.179.12 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 10.10.179.12: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=127
Reply from 10.10.179.12: bytes=32 time=46ms TTL=127
Reply from 10.10.179.12: bytes=32 time=43ms TTL=127
Reply from 10.10.179.12: bytes=32 time=32ms TTL=127

Ping statistics for 10.10.179.12:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 32ms, Maximum = 46ms, Average = 39ms

C:\Documents and Settings\lee.HEALTH>net use h: \\10.10.179.12\carefacts
The password is invalid for \\10.10.179.12\carefacts.

Enter the user name for '10.10.179.12': lee

To connect HEALTH\lee to 10.10.179.12, press ENTER, or type a new user name:

When I log in to the computer instead of the domain the share is present and works after connecting via VPN. It is quite slow (1 minute) to show files but it works.

Server = 2003 standard (powerful beast for hardware)
Clients PC’s are XP Pro

VPN endpoint = Linksys RV042

When I connect with a wireless connection I get “negotiating IP Security after I do a ping to the Server.

HELP???

Thanks
Lee

Answer : Problem: Can’t map network drive over VPN if joined to Domain

I haven't worked with the ver 1.1.0 more than a few minutes, but I too had problems with it, however I didn't have a chance to troubleshoot. If you would like a copy of an earlier firmware version let me know. I have hung onto them.
