Question : Problem: Connect a 25 pin serial device to a 25 pin parallel port
Not too sure what zone is the best place to ask this question so excuse me if this quesiton doesn't belong here.
I have a receipt printer that has been given to me but it connects via serial; the printer has a female 25 pin connector (so accepts a mail 25 pin connector) that connects to a serial 9 pin connect (is it?) on the machine.
The opos printer register programme only appears to accept LPT not COM ports so my thinking is to get hold of a cable that connects serial 25 female (printer) to parallel 25 female (computer). I have seen cables that are serial male 25 pint to serial male 25 pin but I doubt these are wired correctly. I'm not even sure what I am asking would ever work without some kind of conversion but it is worth a shot.
Answer : Problem: Connect a 25 pin serial device to a 25 pin parallel port
What kind of printer is it? Brand? Model? That will help determine what kind of connector you need. You won't be able to connect serial to parallel.
