Question : Problem: View .bin file
|
|
Hi,
I've just downloaded from Internet the contains of a CD. Now on my HDD I have 7 .rar files with the same name 1 .sfv file and 1 msinfo file. Into all 7 .rar files I have 2 files with .bin and .cue extension. All have the same name but not the same size.
I don't know how to make only 1 file from all of these.
Thanks

For the .rar files you'll need WinRar from www.rarlab.com. The latest version for Windows is 3.51: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
An SFV (Simple File Verificator) file contains information about the files it was created from, and stores records about the integrity of the file(s). A CRC check can be performed using an SFV program which checks the .sfv file with the actual files (usually downloaded files) to verify whether they are corrupted or not. A lot of people usually ignore this file, but if you like, you'll be able to load the SFV file thru WinRar to check the files.
When you decompress the 7 rar files you'll have 2 files on your desktop. A .bin file and .cue file. This is a common way to rip a CD. The Binary file (.bin) will be the actual CD data, and the cue file (also called a cuesheet) tells your burning program how to burn it. If you don't want to burn the CD, you can download something like Alcohol 120% (http://www.alcohol-soft.com/) which is a retail product, or Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/announcements.php) which is a freeware product, and mount Virtual Drives to load the .bin/.cue files directly.
The msinfo file should be a file with an .nfo extension. Open this file directly in notepad, and it may have improtant information in it.
