Question : Problem: PIX 501 MAC Cloning
|
|
Hello
I am trying to setup a PIX501. Our ISP uses MAC addresses to keep track of customers. Is there anyway on the PIX software to clone the MAC address? Device: Cisco PIX 501 Firewall Device Manager: Cisco PIX Device Manger 3.0(4) PIX Version: 6.3(5) OS: Windows XP Modem: Westell Wirespeed C90 Series Thanks Mike Swanson

Again, the simple solution is to reset the MAC addresses.
However, depending on your router, it may have a "pass-thru" mode which would allow the PIX to receive a public address. If not, you could port forward the ports for VPN tunnels to the PIX on the public address of the modem.
Effectively, the PIX will need an outside address. You will need to reconfigure your router *or* far more simply, call your ISP and reset the MAC addresses.
