Question : Problem: Surf Control will not work
Ever since we installed 2 new 48 port Cisco Catalyst 3750 switches we cannot get Surf Control to work properly, I think it may be the span port setup in the switch, it does not block anything, here is what it looks like in our switch:
*We have port 47 as the Destination Port, and port 48 is our source port which is uplinked to our firewall.
interface GigabitEthernet2/0/47
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
!
interface GigabitEthernet2/0/48
description Uplink to ASA5510
no switchport
ip address 172.16.0.6 255.255.255.252
speed 100
spanning-tree portfast
*Then we have the monitor session commands designating which port is source and destination.
monitor session 1 source interface Gi2/0/48
monitor session 1 destination interface Gi2/0/47
end
I can't find any other person that has theirs setup differently, is there anything else that should be entered into the switch to make it work? or is there something I should double check on the Surf Control server itself (which is Server 2003 R2 SP2)?
Thanks ahead of time guys!!
Answer : Problem: Surf Control will not work
The configuration is fine. You can't however use the SPAN destination port to transmit any data, so I assume that you have another interface on the server connected to a normal access port as well.
