Question : Problem: PC running low on memory

I have a PC running XP pro
I keep getting messages to the effect I am running low on memory.
When I check Windows task manager it usually states PF useage of about 870 MB
In System Information I have
Total Physical Memory 2.048 MB
Available Physical Memory 1.29 GB
Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB
Page File Space 3.85 GB
Do I need to change something please?
Many thanks
John

Answer : Problem: PC running low on memory

if it says you are running low on memory, that is usually an indicator that your page file settings are wrong.

if you have 2GB RAM, i would suggest trying to turn off your page file and see if that corrects the problem (i had a similar issue, and turning off page file fixed it).  in most circumstances, 2GB RAM is sufficient for XP and programs.  this may not be the case if you are running some super-resource hungry application...

on my computer, i run Crystal Reports that require a good amount of resources.  i was seeing that message when the reports were running...  and turning off the page file fixed it.
