Question : Problem: Portable Drive Bay 2000 does not work
|
|
All my old ultrabays are the thick style version, which will not fit in my new thinkpad t43p..
I bought an 19k4492 Portable Drive Bay 2000 which works like a drive case and lets me use the old ultrabays through a USB port.
I can't get it to work on my XP thinkpad t43p or my a31. Also fails on a Windows 2000 pro desktop.
All 3 computers give Device manager shows "This device cannot start (Code 10).
Updating driver to the one provided with hardware did not help, nor did the ibm/lenove web site's most recent driver (which is windows 2000, nothing is available for XP.)
Any ideas?

Is there an external power adapter for this unit. If so it should be used. As to my first post, those were only examples. The idea is to disable a component you are NOT using freeing up resources to let this new device use them. The IR port would be one I would disable, if you are not using it. Just go into the Device Manager and right click the IR port. Click disable. A red X will appear over this component in device manager when its disabled. To enable again just follow the same directions and you will be presented with an Enable option.
