Question : Problem: Unable To Mount Exchange Store From RSG

Long story, I will try to break it down.

1. We have a single production Exchange 2003 server running Server 2003 Standard.  
2. We recently had a user delete a massive amount of e-mail from his account.  
3. We used Exmerge to extract his e-mail, however, it was only able to grab about 1/3 of the messages.
4. We are using Backup Exec 11d on a Server 2003 Standard machine.  We use this to perform routing backups of the Exchange stores.
5. We attempted to restore the backup from Backup Exec 11d to our exchange server using RSG.  However, Backup Exec had issues with this process and failed to restore the files.  I went round and round with Veritas support with no luck.
6. Ultimately, we setup a lab server to mimic our production mail server (name, domain, and all).  We were able to isolate that lab server and our Backup Exec server and were able to restore the private mail store to the lab server.  Sounds Great, but our troubles continue.
7. We are unable to mount the RSG store on the lab computer.

We are hoping there is a way to mount this RSG to extract the messages without going through a 3rd party product.  We would prefer to utilize the resources we have, if possible.  We would also not like to take our production server off line to copy files.

Any suggestions, tips, etc... are greatly appreciated.

Are you running Exmerge from the server or from your desktop?  Also, are you running any antivirus on the server?  We have to disable our antivirus software before we can retrieve any data from the Dumpster.  Strange, but true.
