Question : Problem: PCI Multimedia Audio Device
|
|
I've just for atted and reinstalled Win 98SE on my hard drive. Most of the drivers disappeard, one is for something called "Pci Multimedia Audio Device" and this unit has a yellow exclamation mark in the Control Panel. My sound is missing although I've installed the proper sound drivers (Sigma Stac9700). Can anyone please help me? (I don't even know what this PCI-device-thing is.)

The YMF 744 is a Yamaha chip. Drivers can be downloaded here:
http://www.yamaha.com/lsi/index.htm
The Stac 97 is an AC 97 codec used for audio output. It appears that other boards besides yours use both chips... I'm not too sure why!
I think that the correct driver is on this page: http://www.transcendusa.com/Mainboard/english/index.htm It is audiosig.exe
As long as the speakers are plugged into the back of the computer that is all that matters. You don't need special drivers for specific speakers - they all take a similar input.
Hope this helps!
