Question : Problem: External Hard Drive & Acronis True Image 11 Home

I have an external hard drive that has USB 2.0, FireWire 400 and eSATA support. What I use this drive mostly for is to backup my computer from time to time, the program that I use to backup my computer is Acronis True Image 11 Home. Windows XP sees the drive fine, when I right click on my computer and than manage, than, disk management it says my drive is healthy and everything looks fine. The problem that I am having is when I want to restore an Image from the external drive, I use the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media, so what I do is I reboot my computer and the cd boots into the Rescue Media software, the problem is I don't see my external drive to select from when in the Rescue Media software. I have the external drive connected using FireWire 400. Any ideas why this is happening?

                               Thank You,

Ooop! what is just happening? :o)

The usb or firewire often has infamous issues from time to time, either from OS or hardware. The LED is sometime on and sometime off that could be hardware issue (the small circuit board) and that sometime leads to deeper issue such as drive is not recognized or suddent RAW format!!!

Anyway, it is good to hear the problem is gone but I would not trust such device anymore. Also, make sure your system has enough power supply because usb could be failed if under power happens.

You might also request to refund the points if you have solved the problem yourself.

Happy New Year!
