Question : Problem: Curious of what Citrix does
|
|
Hello,
I know that citrix is a terminal server product, but what does it do? Does it integrate with microsoft's product, or is it unique? How does a citrix server control the user environment such as Operating System Version and what features are available to the user. Any additional information for a newbie to terminal server products would be appriciated.
Thanks!

Citrix Presentation Server is the application group you are referring to (Citrix has some other products as well - but this is the most common/well known). Citrix Presentation Server is a product that builds upon Terminal Services by adding more functionality and many more features such as:
It enables you to allow users to just use certain applications rather than just letting them log into a Remote Desktop like Terminal Services.
More control over printing policies and how it is configured.
Can be used with a web interface so users can easily see what applications they have access to..
Works with Citrix Secure Gateway (& other products) for SSL encryption for enhanced security.
so many more to list... If you are using Terminal Services I think Citrix is a must have for improved administration & functionality. It is installed directly onto a Microsoft server so it won't change the OS version. Check their website for more info:
