Woah fellas, Before we all go delving into bios looking for the answer, its probably worth considering that tgraph has obviously plugged the speakers back into the same spots they we originally in. Reinstalling software has no bearing on the bios settings, it sounds like you either have an IRQ (Interrupt Request Channel) conflict, due to two different devices sharing the same IRQ address, or a driver installation error. ** The following instructions are for Win XP **
First check the IRQ addressing 1. Open device manager and expand the 'Sound, video and game controllers' option 2. Select the appropriate sound device and open the properties 3. Select the resouces tab and check the list to see if there are any conflicts listed at the bottom of the window If there are conflicts listed 4. Ensure the check box 'use automatic settings' is set and this should resolve any conflicts
Reinstall the Drivers 1. On the drivers tab for the device properties click uninstall the driver 2. It would be helpful at this stage to know exactly what sound device you have :) but lets assume its a standard audio device 3. Reboot the machine and allow the automatic hardware detection to do its job 4. If a driver cannot be found then a quick web search should return a driver which can be installed as per manufacturers instructions.
Cheers Bishop
