Question : Problem: Printer Vlan?
We use static IPs in our organization. We have around 500 computers, 100 printers, and 25 servers. At this time we have one huge subnet. I am looking to vlan the network with a 4507 core switch and 2960 edge switches, which have a fiber gigabit run to the core. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to putting the printers in their own vlan?

Print servers will broadcast traffic over the network. While not a lot of traffic it is still traffic none the less. While the only advantage I can see is the elimination of the broadcast traffic from the PC network, I see no real disadvantage. The more you can divide your network up the smaller collision domains you create making for less trouble.
