Question : Problem: Windows XP error: sttray.exe entry point not found
Hello-
I have a Dell Windows XP (SP3) machine which was recently reformatted after several power failures in a row toasted the hard drive. (Yes, I have ordered a UPS and it's en route.) The machine had no sound after the format so I loaded the drivers for the SigmaTel High Definition Codec sound device from the Dell website, and I now have sound. However, upon boot my PC displays the following error:
sttray.exe: Entry point not found. The procedure entry point LocalizeString could not be located in the dynamic link library StLang.dll
In Googling this message it appears to be related to the sound driver, but I haven't come up with a satisfactory solution. Can anyone make a suggestion?
Thanks-
Jennifer P
Answer : Problem: Windows XP error: sttray.exe entry point not found
start>run>msconfig>startup and disable sttray.exe from startup. It is a dumb add-in from DigmaTel. This should eliminate the error. Then run windows updates, and pull any available drivers from the site.
