Question : Problem: Do I have a bad power supply?
I have a PC that will not turn on. I am told its power supply was recently replaced. When I turn on the PC, the fan on the video card powers on, so it seems that the motherboard is getting power. However, when I try ejecting the CD-ROM, nothing happens. Its as if the harness to the motherboard has power but all of the auxiallary stuff (i.e. hard drive, CD-ROM, floppy, etc.) are not getting power. I also connected one of the power cables to a known-working CD-ROM and it wouldn't eject it either. I wanted to connect another power supply's power cable to this PC's CD-ROM but it wouldn't reach. I am thinking I should purchase a new power supply but am afraid I'd run into the same issue. What does anyone recommend?
Answer : Problem: Do I have a bad power supply?
test with another known good power supply on the system.
