Question : Problem: How to repeat wifi signals w/ multiple repaters

Not sure where I should post this question, but since I'll be using handheld devices so here it is.

What I am trying to do:
Trying to create a wifi network in the field so multiple iPAQs (40) can have internet access.

Problem:
There is only one spot that has internet access and there is no way I can cover the whole area from that point (could be as far as 4 or 5 mile away)

My question:
Is it possible to use multiple wifi repeaters to transimit signal so I can have coverage even at the edge of the field?
Here is what I am thinking.  Basestation <--> Repeater <--> Repeater <--> Repeater <--> Repeater <--> iPAQ.
                                                                        |                    |                     |                    |
                                                                     iPAQs              iPAQs              iPAQs             iPAQs
<--> meaning data can travel both way.

Is what I discribt above even possible
If yes what type of repeater should i be getting.

Thanks

I suggest you look at Linksys for repeaters, but these are mostly indoor use.  I know Symbol produces commercial grade wireless, but if you are trying to extend miles, not feet, then you may want to consider using celular broadband.  I use Verizon Kyocera KPC650 and its is great for mobile web.  But you need to be in range of their towers and it runs $80/month per device.

Visit www.booster-antenna.com for the EVDO celular stuff.

You could also try http://www.cantenna.com/  or search google for Swann boosters.  But none of these companies will give distance or range specifics.
