Reading the Netgear site I suspect I have found the problem. According to the link below the WGR614 does not support VPN pass through. Making a basic connection is sometimes possible, as it uses basic TCP/IP. However, for data to pass, it requires GRE the PPTP encryption protocol, to pass. If the router is not configured for that or capable of PPTP pass-trough, the VPN cannot be made to work. I suspect you will need to look at another model of router. http://kbserver.netgear.com/inquira/default.asp?ui_mode=answer&prior_transaction_id=96347&action_code=5&highlight_info=16777369,60,76&turl=http%3A%2F%2Fkbserver.netgear.com%2Fkb_web_files%2FN101592.asp&answer_id=27741982#__highlight
If considering a new router you might want to consider a true VPN router rather than one with VPN pas-through capabilities. This will use IPSec which is more secure, and requires no port forwarding. Netgear have several available such as the FSV318. --Rob
