Question : Problem: Direct Cable Connection can not find host computer error.

I just bought a DirectParallel 4-bit basic cable to connect my Win XP (Home
edition) laptop PC and a Win95 Desktop PC. I followed the steps in the
instructions to setup the XP as host and win95 as gest. No errors during the
setup. When I clicked the connect button in my gest computer
(start/accessaries/Direct Cable Connection), it prompt me to input the host
computer name, I typed in the folder name in the host that I want to share
(hp). It says "can not find host computer".

I have created the account in the host that use the win95 log on user
name(junyang2), no password is prompted to input. When share the host
folder, I shared a folder under c drive (hp). Is this shared folder name
should I input as the host compter name? I can't find any other name to put
as host computer name. In my host computer, it only shows (My Computer,
Local Disk (C:)).

Can You help?

Answer : Problem: Direct Cable Connection can not find host computer error.

Hi
If the xp machine is the host right click on the my computer icon in the start menu and click properties,  then click computer name, the computer name is the host name you need to enter.

If the host is win95 or 98 then right click on the network neighbourhood icon on the desktop and click properties, then click identification for the host name. Or you may need to look in control panel for the network neighbourhood icon.
