Question : Problem: How to reformat Hard Drive?
|
|
Hi guys,
Just a short question, but I suspect a fairly complex answer - hey, I could be wrong!
After an incredibly long and drawn out process of trying to get WIN 95 to reinstall, without success, I have been instructed by my remote technician that the only option now available to me is to reformat the hard drive, reinstall the system and start with a clean slate.
Sounds simple, but what I need to know in a hurry is, how exactly do I reformat the hard drive?
Hope someone can help out with some simple instructions(?).
Thanks for your help

geeez, all she wanted to know was how to reformat her hard drive to reinstall windows, sometimes i thing the answers over complicate simple requests...
Sha, at a dos prompt (not a windows dos prompt) type the following as was mentioned earler by rmarotta...
format /u /s c: format = format the hard drive /u = unconditionaly (will as it implies, completly erase the dard drive) /s = copys system files to the hard drive after formating so hard drive is bootable c: = the hard drive (or partition) u want formated when prompted ... are u really sure, say yes. good luck
