Question : Problem: UPS power consumption

I want to buy an ups, a "merlin pulsar ellipse 750 ", of 450 W (750 VA), and the power consumption of my computer is 200 W, if i use this device and i plug my computer to it, what will be the continuous power consumption,450W of the UPS or 200W of my computer?

is the 450W the supported voltage or is it the consumption it will have??

Answer : Problem: UPS power consumption

The watts ratings are the maximums.
Supplies don't 'push' power to the computer, the computer 'draws' power from the supply.
Computer will only draw as much as it needs.
If it's working hard it will draw a lot.
If it's in standby (soft off) it won't draw much at all.

Same goes for the UPS unit.
Charging the batteries takes a lot.
Most of the time it doesn't use much.

Your continuous power will depend on what the computer is doing, how much of the day it's doing it, and what it is [P3, P4, Core, Dual CPU/Single CPU, amount of RAM, kind of video card.].
- No one can tell you that without a whole bunch more information and doing the math.
- Even then it would more or less be a guess because all the little pieces that add up to the whole would be guesses/estimates.
