Question : Problem: How do I determine the power supply for video card

Hello,

I am considering buying a Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 video card to replace by Radeon HD2400.  I am concerned about whether I'll need a bigger power supply.

1.  How do I determine my current power supply?
2.  How do I determine if this video card requires a larger power supply?

Thanks.

TDP = Total Design Power. - It's basically the most power the chip can use without overheating.

I gave you TDP for the video chip..........
>> A GeForce GTX 295 has a TDP of 289 watts (peak).  <<
In the future use google as so: > GeForce GTX 295 TDP <

You can do the same for the CPU.
Or, if it's an Intel CPU, this can be quicker: http://processorfinder.intel.com/

You made no mention [to US] of the rest of the system's specifics so I told you how to figure it out on your own.
"Give a man a fish." -vs- "Teach a man to fish."

If you -understand- what's involved then next time you won't have to ask around and wait for answers AND you won't have to pray you were given a good answer. - You'll know.
