Question : Problem: Sound Card Not Found in Sound and Audio Devices of Control Panel
My old Pentium III has problems with third party sound card where the sound will disappear without notice. THe following are my PIII's spec:
Intel Pentium III EB 866mHz (Coppermine/overclocked to 909mHz)
Winsonic VIA Apollo Pro Chipset
512MB PC-133 SDRAM
Maxtor 80GB IDE HDD & Quantum 20GB IDE HDD
Aopen DUW1616 DVD writer (2 units)
Creative SB Audigy LS
Prolink TV Capture card
PCI-slot NIC
The problem is that the sound will disappear without notice, especially when the PC is connected to the Internet. Normally Windows Media Player will have no sound first due to it uses DirectSound device. But when severe case occurs, the Windows totally has no sound and playing audio files in Windows Media Player, error message of stating "computer is low on memory" will be displayed and Device Manager will have exclaimation mark on device "Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio Mixer" (refer attachment provided)
This problem can be solved temporarily by restarting the PC.
Please advise on this problem. Any extra information needed please let me know. Thank you.
