Question : Problem: Graphics driver update procedure
My graphics card vendor, Leadtek, has a driver available online that's newer than my current one. I'd like to install the latest driver, so I downloaded the file. It's a large .exe file. I ran the executable, and the process seemed to go well, but when I rebooted, Windows installed a poor generic driver. Using Windows ME, so I was able to System Restore to get back to previous state, but I must have done something wrong. I'm having trouble navigating the Leadtek site for help. Could someone please advise to the proper procedure for updating a video driver? I've tried going through the properties for display adapters in System Properties, then clicking on update driver, but it's looking for a .inf file, not an .exe.

Remove all under video adapter in Device Manager. In the Control panel, Add New Hardware, select video adapter, and pick Standard VGA Adapter. Restart.
Now when the system starts, it should not search for and install any drivers for your card. You can run the Leadtek .exe file and the correct drivers should install.
