Question : Problem: Speakers do not work and keyboard ony half works after formatting hard drive

Hi,

Recently, I had to reformat my C: drive and now my speakers don't work and only half the letters on my optical keyboard will operate.  The original driver for my speakers was a C-Media AC97 driver.  I have tried downloading that driver and a couple others, but Device Manager always gives a "This device cannot start (Code 10)" error.  Uninstalling and reinstalling does not work, either.  My optical keyboard and optical mouse are made by Micro Innovations.  I had to reinstall both to a different hard drive (C:) than originally installed (D:) because I could not access the Micro Innovations folder there.  Any thoughts on how to fix these problems?

Thanks,

Stacy

To be sure about  them, i suggest to run from a knoppix cd, then test the usb ports - if they work then, they are ok (hardware) and you need to find a soft solution.
