Try this site: http://www.asia.cnet.com/reviews/hardware/printers/ and in particular, the link to my favourite printer, the Phaser 7700: www.asia.cnet.com/reviews/hardware/printers/ 0,39001758,39000580p,00.htm
While getting a little bit old, and probably due for replacement by a new model soon, the Phaser 7700 gives a great combination of speed and quality. It's great for proofing and has the speed for long print runs as well. Printing costs are also at the lower end of desktop colour printers.
Xerox do have a newer and even faster model, the Phaser 7300 (30 ppm vs 22) but it does not have the print quality of the Phaser 7700. The 7700 also wins hands down in ease of use: the 7300 has a very contorted paper path, making it hard to clear jams and install consumables.
