Question : Problem: Upgrade problems - Motherboard Fans etc. work, but no display, no beeps.

I'm upgrading my pc using components from my friend's pc - New (to me) Mobo (Asus Av8 dlx), processor - Athlon 3500xp+, 2 gig ram in 4 x 512mb, 450w power supply.  Using my sound card (SB Audigy), and graphics card - ATI X800 GTO. (agp).

The problem is that although I know I've connected everything properly, I'm not getting any joy when I turn it on. The cpu, graphics card, and case fans all start. and the leds on the board itself all turn on, but I get nothing else.  No POST beeps, and no display (the monitor light flashes as if it is in standby mode, but doesn't actually come on.

Is my new stuff fried?  Or is there still hope?

Answer : Problem: Upgrade problems - Motherboard Fans etc. work, but no display, no beeps.

Try removing the sound and video if there is a onboard version. perhaps remove some or all of the memory .

Reset the cmos and see if that works some times you need to plug speakers into the onboard sound top get the startup beeps.
