Help...
I've 'inherited' a HP PSC 500 but can't get it to run under Win2000. I understand there are 'issues' but is there a fix?
Thanks

I believe you can enter the Tosh's BIOS by holding down ESC on reboot, The manual should tell you anyway. Once you get into BIOS settings, do *not* change anything you don't understand as it could cause your PC to stop functioning.
For the parallel port settings, I really can't tell you where to look. There are several pages of settings. The one you are looking for will refer to the parallel port or printer port. When you find it, select a setting like "IEEE 1248" or "bi-directional".
As for your new problem, try to disable spooling to see if that improves anything. To do that, go to Start>Settings>Printers. Right-click on the printer and select Properties. Click on the Advanced tab and select "Print directly to the printer". This will have the "side-effect" that your PC will be kept busy while the printer is printing, but let's see what happens anyway.
