Question : Problem: mouse and keyboard connection to a computer

I am finally converting from a PS/2 mouse and keyboard to USB. Can a USB mouse and keyboard plug into any USB port in a computer? Or does the motherboard have to supply special mouse and keyboard USB ports?

Answer : Problem: mouse and keyboard connection to a computer

i would NOT connect a usb mouse and keyboard to an usb hub -because it won't be seen at bootup time.
it is only seen after the windows loading.
and you must realise that, if you connect multiple devices on 1 usb port (via hubs) you are deviding the bandwidth between them, and add the power they draw also (for non-powered hubs)
The max usb power is 5V -0.5 A = 2.5 W max
