Is there any faster method to restore files from tape (using veritas) to another server with differenet block size /compression etc.

Well I already did answer that, so I don't know what else to say.  You can re-direct where you want the backup to restore the files.  You can enter in a new UNC path for them so long as the account you are restoring with has rights to the path.  Done.
