Question : Problem: Can an hp ml330 remirror a replacement drive automatically
|

The primary ata 80GB drive failed. I disconnected the primary drive and the system succesfully boots up on the secondary drive (OS server 2003). The drives use the Integrated Dual Channel Ultra ATA 100 ide adapter using Raid 1. Both drives are on the primary channel.
Question: When I replace the primary drive will the system automaticaly mirror the drives or do I need to intercede in some fashion?

Well, usually (the 99%) this SATA controllers have the ability to auto-repair it's arrays, withtout user intervention.
The only thing you have to do, is to attach the new replacement drive, and the controller will do the rest for you, and depending the amount of data on the array it may take a while, but this is usually done in the background, so you could start your Windows, and use it as usual, maybe a little slower, but it will works.
