Question : Problem: please help

hi everyone,
recently my brother decided to upgrade his pc.
he went with an asus a7v880 mobo along with ati 9700 prp vga,and a new western digital hdd.
also he decided to go from win me to win xp pro.
after formatting the new disk using xp..we keep getting htdlr is missing(i read the other post's on this problem..nothing seems to help)
today we are going to get a new maxtor hdd. when i installed my new maxtor drive,i just used
powermax,and everything went smoothly. not the case with wdd utilitys.
anyone have any suggestions as to how we can a smooth install without any glitches?
dont want to screw this new,new hard drive up also!

Answer : Problem: please help

Is this a SATA drive?  What is the exact nomenclature of the Motherboard.  I believe a7v880 may be a typo???  What type of processor?
