Question : Problem: OS level optical sound control
I get the message "no controls are available for this connection" (or something very close to the previous) whenever I try to select optical in in the sound control pane in system preferences. I am connecting a wireless mic system. The connections go xlr out from base station to xlr in on a firewire 410. I use toslink cable out to the optical in on my quad 2.5 Mac running 10.4.11. Does this mean that Mac OS X does not have an "inhouse" control for its own optical-in port. Or does my maudio firewire 410 software preempt it so that I must use its software controls for this port?
Answer : Problem: OS level optical sound control
Never mind. The g5 optical port is just an in out loop so no controls are available to input anything in to the tower. Kinda sucks.
