Question : Problem: How to Sort by Name in iTunes / iPod?

Hi guys,

I'm having trouble figuring out how to sort music tracks by NAME in iTunes.  You would think this should be the most basic thing possible, but I've tried everything I can think of.

See the attached image.... this is an example of the problem I'm having.  I rip'd a CD to MP3 so I can listen to it on my iPOD.  I needs to be listened in a specific order.  The song names are all correct and if placed in a folder on my PC for example, sort just fine.

But for some reasons iTunes has them out of order,  and even the sort by name in the top bar doesn't show them in order.  I've done the GET INFO and tried to sort by Album, etc.  but nothing has worked (and strangely there is no "Sort by Name"

I tested on the iPod iteself and the order is also out of whack in the exact same way as in iTunes.

I know I can create a Playlist in the worst of case and sort them there, but really this is so elementary I don't see why I can't get it sorted by name in each Album.

Any help will be extremely appreciated.

Thanks

Answer : Problem: How to Sort by Name in iTunes / iPod?

Hi nathaliev,

Looks like you need to rename the files with leading zeros in front of the single digits. Windows sorts them intuitively (now - it didn't used to), but apparently iTunes does not.

e.g.
Music Volume 2.1 - Track 01
Music Volume 2.1 - Track 02
Music Volume 2.1 - Track 03
Music Volume 2.1 - Track 04
et cetera
