Question : Problem: MEMORY TYPE PROBLEM

I got 2 motherboards  from supplier ASUS type P5K,  and gave me  memory Kingston 1 giga KVR533D2N4/1G  
manual shows types:   256,512,1 G unbuffered non-ECC DDR2  -1066 mhz or 800 or 667
Bord does not run, he claims it should work, I start believing mem KVR533 will not run on this board,
is this true or is he right?
