Question : Problem: IDU (= Intel desktop utility) sometimes reports 0 volts on one or all rails

PC components:
INTEL dp35dp Mainboard
Intel core 2 duo E8400
8 GBytel ram with proper board timings
ASUS 8600GT-512MByte-Silent GraphicCard

On this system the "intel desktop monitor" peridocally reports 0 volts on all rails, 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 5VSB, other. The system never shuts down nor does it seem unstable. I have tried two different power supplies,  Thermaltake 500W and Termaltake 650W.

What could be the problem? Will this damage the MOBO, cpu or memory? Could it be the PCIe card? BTW, the graphics card does not have it's own power connector, it is powered from the mobo.

There ist already a similar problem reported and answered with "maybe Intel desktop monitoring utility" has
a problem ... but in my case this cannot explain why the "hardware monitor in BIOS of INTEL-Mainoard-DP35DP" also show sometimes "0" Volt on all or some voltages - have you any idea ?

Answer : Problem: IDU (= Intel desktop utility) sometimes reports 0 volts on one or all rails

Bad voltage sensors on the motherboard ... or possibly just a flaw in the BIOS sensing code (which, if that's the case, may eventually be corrected with a BIOS update).   Nothing to worry about => clearly if the voltages actually dropped to 0 the system would instantly halt !! :-)
