Question : Problem: Installed Radeon 9250 into Dell Optiplex and now have no video on either onboard video or Radeon card

I am trying to install a new video card to support dual monitors.  After I installed the card in the machine I then installed the cd that came with it.  It installed with no errors as asked to reboot the machine.  After the machine was rebooted, we were still connected to the motherboard, when the welecome message came up the screen looked like it had the wrong refresh rate but you could still see the screen.  The system then locked and when the system was rebooted again, it had no video.  We removed the new video card from the machine and plugged the screen into the onboard video.  Still no video.  Monitor is black with no BIOS boot up.  System seems to boot based on the sounds and ligts on the outside but you just can not see the video.  We tried to plug into both ports on the new video card and still get the same black screen.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kenny

Answer : Problem: Installed Radeon 9250 into Dell Optiplex and now have no video on either onboard video or Radeon card

Remove the bios clear jumper for 1-5 minutes, some mainboards are dum and don't clear fast.
Remove the ati graphic card. Boot system with onboard graphic card and enter bios.
Set the order of video mode....> agp<> after that onboard.
Connect graphic card and installa with the latest drivers from ati website.
If everything works fine, restart the pc and from bios disable the onboard graphic card setting the memory shared 0 or disabled.
Let me know if doesn't work.

Good luck,
Cheers
