Question : Problem: Serial Stepper Motor Controller

Hi,

What I am looking for is a stepper motor controller that...
a) is available in the U.K. 'off the shelf'
b) requires no asembly or pic programming
c) has a 9pin RS-232 connector and not screw terminals
d) is powerd off the serial port
e) can daisychain
f) has the power to run 'heavy duty i.e. > 1A' steppers (off a separate supply)

I am looking towards running a couple steppers that will pull 100kgs. I am also hoping to get speed, and fine movement (not required to change between modes while in motion :)

Any clues as to whats available... cheaply if possible.

Thanks.
Nigel.

Answer : Problem: Serial Stepper Motor Controller

I think it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that you'll be able to find or build a controller that is powered off the serial port.  There is simply too little power available there for a purpose like this.
