Question : Problem: keyboard failure keyboard failure during boot dell spx 400

I attempted to boot my dell xps 400 and during the boot up, I get an error message that the keyboard failed. I purchased a new keyboard installed that and received the same error. After the computer sits for a bit, it goes to windows to but both the keyboard and mouse are frozen so I can not get into windows or enter cmos during boot up.

I am at a lost as to what to do.

Well, first I would say you are *definitely* better off replacing the motherboard.

Second, I know that Dell sells replacement parts off their website

Third, if you don't know how and don't want to take the risk then pay someone to do it.  It's shouldn't be very expensive to have someone swap out the motherboard.  If you want to replace it yourself these links may be helpful to you:
