Question : Problem: Nokia 3200 com clash

there is a conflict of port settings,the driver cable is connected to a usb port number 4 but the modem thinks it is com 5 and I cannot find out how to change it.So the connection says that the modem cannot be found and/or there is some other device using the same port

If your running Windows 95/98, I've had trouble where the OS can't sort out ports very well. One suggestion you may try. If you don't have anything hooked up to your PC's com ports (mouse, external modem, PDA device, etc) you could go into your BIOS and try disabling COM 1 & 2 and see if that helps any. If you are using these ports, you could at least disable and see if that is the issue, you can always turn them back on. Some BIOS's will allow a AUTO setting for the COM ports, others you have to specify what the settings are. If it will allow AUTO, try that as well.
