Question : Problem: Multiple NIC's each assigned public IP but have default gateway issues!

Multiple NIC's each assigned public IP but have default gateway issues!

I am currently configuring a web server with Windows 2003 Web Server edition with 2 x Intel Quad port Network cards.

My connection provider has supplied a range of 8 public IP's with one default gateway address. The server is connected directly to the provider; I use no router to branch the connection.

I have configured one of the ports with a public IP address and configured a website via IIS to use this address and connect fine to it.

When I try and configure another port with another IP address from the allocation I receive a warning about the default gateway address and "connection redundancy" before applying. Then none of the sites can be reached.

Is this due to the fact that I only have one default gateway address?

many thanks,

Nell

        Hi Nell
You have to add routes. See the following previous answer of mine
