Question : Problem: Enterprise type mobile functionality for single users

Hi
Work recently gave me a Blackberry and I'm hooked ! Got me thinking how I might do something similar at home

Essentially what I want is a mobile device (Blackberry or E series nokia) that I can use to get my home emails (which are currently on my mailserver but I can forward to anywhere) and which is in 2-way sync OTA with calendars and contacts

At work this is all done with Exchange/Outlook/BES - clearly not practical for a home environment

Can anyone help explain the options/approaches I might use to get the functionality I'm after. The email bit's quite easy (I can use webmail or IMAP with my own mailserver) it's the calendar/contacts that I'm having trouble with

Thanks

/neill

Answer : Problem: Enterprise type mobile functionality for single users

Sure with any blackberry you get from the carrier Blackberry Internet Service (BIS).  This will allow you to setup several other personal email accounts on the bb device thru the carriers' BIS website.  Check here for the various carriers and their BIS websites and for some additional info on BIS.  Best part BIS is free.

That will take care of the email portion for the calendar and contacts you can install for free from RIM, Desktop Manager which you install on your PC and as long as you have those calendar and contacts in Outlook.  You also have the option with a blackberry to use products like google calendar which works well with a bb device.
