Question : Problem: Vista will not connect to internet through router, but will do fine directly through cable modem...?
This isn't rocket scienc, and I have a lot of experience with routers in a small business network and at home, but always with Windows XP. Soooo, I have Vista Ultimate and can plug directly up to my cable modem and connect to the internet just fine. However, when I go MODEM --> LINKSYS WRT54G ROUTER --> HP VISTA ULTIMATE MACHINE, nothing happens. It will not connect to the internet. It'll connect to the router, but not the internet. I've checked and tweaked every setting on the router, but the settings are pretty basic and I can't find anything I'm doing wrong...I've read about some issues with Vista and routers, but can't find anything specific (I've checked to make sure my router is Vista ready and it is).
Is there something I'm missing with Vista Ultimate in regards to connecting through a router?

run an ipconfig in comand prompt to you pickl up an IP Address? and defualt gateway?
